USAID

2022-2030 Climate Strategy
Project Overview
This decade will be decisive for the future of our planet, and USAID is poised to galvanize the lasting changes necessary to combat climate change. USAID’s convening power, global presence, long-standing partnerships, and breadth of technical expertise position itself to make a real difference in this critical global fight. That is why USAID has developed a new Climate Strategy that will guide work through 2030 in a truly different manner.

Building on the previous Climate Change and Development Strategy of 2012-2018, which focused on specific climate mitigation and adaptation measures, this new Strategy adopts an unprecedented "whole-of-Agency" approach that calls on all parts of USAID to be involved in our response.
My Contributions
I served as the lead graphic designer and worked closely with USAID's core drafting team as well as an external designer who also supported the project. Among my responsibilities, I designed the cover, custom infographics, and the full layout of the strategy, ensuring 508 compliance in the design, and advising on best practices for layout and design.

Graphic Design

Graphic design is an important aspect of many publications, particularly those that are heavier on text than imagery. In these cases, the layout and design play a crucial role in making the document easy to read and navigate. As the lead graphic designer on a major project, I was responsible for ensuring that the finished product met these standards.

This included working with the drafters to incorporate infographics and other visual elements, choosing an appropriate cover design, and laying out the pages in an accessible way. In addition to being aesthetically pleasing, my designs needed to meet compliance standards. Overall, it was a challenging and rewarding experience to see my work come to life in such an important document.
